The mill building construction in Makala kebele was finished in July 2017. The tasks for the next days include purchase, transportation and installation of milling device to the building; training of women from Atote cooperative in operation and maintenance of the mill; and handover of the mill to the cooperative.
Choosing suitable milling device is crucial for project´s sustainability. Although women from Atote cooperative will be trained to manage simple maintenance repairs without any assistance, spare parts and external service for more complicated repairs should be available in the country in order to ensure continuity of mill´s operation. The milling device, which will be installed to the mill in Makala, will be of Hungarian origin. Its engine has 27 horsepower and meets the requirements on spare parts and external service availability in Ethiopia.
